A little work in progress. After seeing "How to Train Your Pet Dragon", I couldn't wait to draw again. Besides being a wonderful story it was artistically inspiring. I'm planning on taking this one to final color.

Lovely! Im looking forward to seeing you take this to colour.

Ive heard that is a good film, stylistically, I reckon I should check it out. Oh, I also heard there's a load of Scottish accents in there! haha

Brandon,
This sketch is off to a great start! Moody and atmospheric!
I was curious if the boy is reading and his dragon is turning the page for him or he's asleep and the dragon is going to put the book away before he eats the boy?
What direction do you see the final painting heading?
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the process ahead. :)

Thanks all for the wonderful compliments!
Phil: Definitely, "turning the page":) It's funny how it's been interpreted, because I only see it one way. As a kid, I always imagined monsters as friends no matter how creepy they looked. I've never grown out of that. I suppose, even with the final rendering, people might interpret it both ways. I'd be ok with that.

When I was a kid I too imagined, like most kids, that there were groups of your friendly monsters who were looking for kids to hang out with and play. Then there was the other group of monsters that hated the monsters who hung out with us and were bent on eating us kids and our monster pals.
Unless I was just a weird kid with an active imagination full of monsters? ;)
